Emma Wood(they/them/hen)is a queer Swedish-American interdisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis. They work with glass, mycelium, and other bio-materials, driven by an interest in the intersection of art and science. Their work focuses on the unseen, ephemeral, and often-overlooked connections between bodies, systems, and the micro and macro world.
Emma’s work has been exhibited at The Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, The Cafesjian Art Trust, Franconia Sculpture Park, and The American Swedish Institute. They have been awarded fellowships and residencies at The Emerging Curator’s Institute, Franconia Sculpture Park, Chicago Fire Arts Center, and Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts. Most recently, their work was included in Blaschka Glass Flowers presentation through the The Paperweight Collectors Association 2024 Convention and published in Corning Museum of Glass New Glass Review Issue 44. In 2024, their work entered the permanent collection at The Cafesjian Art Trust Museum.
Their current gravitations and curiosities include mycoremediation, documenting the biodiversity of fungi specimens in glass, bioluminescence in nature, experimentation in kiln formed and flameworked glass, interdisciplinary collaborations and non-traditional curating.
